HOW TO PROPERLY PREP YOUR FACE FOR MAKEUP

No matter how we want our faces to look in the end, we all share one thing in common; we want our skin to be ready for it. So, to achieve this awesome skin that’s ready for whatever’s next, here are some tips.

THOROUGHLY CLEAN YOUR SKIN

Having the right facial cleanser is the most basic and important steps in achieving healthy skin that’s ready to be worked on. If you have sensitive skin try to avoid face soaps with harsh ingredients that might cause redness and irritation. Find a cleanser that is gentle enough for your skin, and also works to give you the best results. Also try looking for a pH balanced soap. This will help with getting our skins pH balance back to normal because our skin requires a certain level of acidity to battle bacteria. If you have healthy and clean skin already, search for a pH soap that matches your level already. However if you have acne-prone skin find out that has a higher acidity level. Make sure you rinse your skin completely after washing it to make sure there’s nothing left on the skin, and ultimately giving you a better canvas for your makeup.

EXFOLIATE

Nobody wants their makeup to be cakey or blotchy, this is why it’s important to exfoliate, not only your face, but your neck too. The main cause of clumps in our makeup is the dead skin we have left on our skin. When you exfoliate, you get rid of all the dead skin on the surface, leaving you with a cleaner and smoother base. Find a gentle exfoliating scrub so you’re able to use it daily unlike with harsh ones. If you try using a rougher scrub, especially every day, it will cause your skin even more damage. While exfoliating your face, don’t forget about your neck. Make sure you rinse well again to make sure the surface is completely smooth and doesn’t end up caking or getting thicker.

USE A SERUM

Most of us don’t really think about this step, and leave it out. But even if we haven’t realized it before, it’s very important. You should use a serum before you apply moisturizer to give your skin the vitamins it’s asking for. After exfoliating is the best time to apply this product. This is the best time because your pores have just been unclogged and are completely clean. Look for a serum that has Vitamin C in it to help smooth and to help lock in moisture.

HYRDATE!!!

Make sure no matter what skin type you have you’re using a moisturizer. Find one that is made for your type of skin and is providing you with long-lasting hydration. This will help create a smooth and fresh base for your makeup. But be sure to not use too much. Be sure your moisturizer has SPF in it if you don’t plan on using sunscreen to help protect from sun damage. Pat the moisturizer into your skin instead of rubbing it, this will ensure that it sinks in and stays moisturized.

PRIME YOUR SKIN

Using a face primer is definitely not unheard of, but not always used. If you asked any expert they would tell you a facial primer is one of the most important steps. When you’re buying a primer look for one that is silicone based, this will help fill in pores and make your skin look even and smooth. Another benefit of primer is that it keeps your skins natural oils from mixing in with your makeup, which is not a good look. A primer is the last step in creating the best surface you can to apply whatever’s next.
